The Rollercoaster That Was 2018 // Canberra Documentary Photographer

2018 was one of the most emotional years I’ve had. Both personally and in my business (and an overlap of the two!)

I photographed more sessions this year than in the last 3 years combined! I introduced family films to my services and they have been such a huge hit. I love nothing more than helping families to create and seal these memories for a lifetime.

I launched the Baby Bloom Collections and have met some beautiful families whose babies I will continue to document throughout their first year of life.

We lost a dear friend. One of my lovely clients, Daniel, who’s wife is one of the strongest and most beautiful people I know and who’s baby boy is the most treasured child on this earth. I think of Daniel every day and miss him terribly, but am so thankful that my photography business brought him and his family in to my life.

I photographed 2 stillbirths and 2 funerals and still have moments where I grieve alongside those sweet families. I’m so glad I was able to give them those images, as painful as they are. These families don’t know it, but I’m the one who is eternally grateful to them. Being invited in to such a private and heartbreaking time is truly humbling.

In 2018 I photographed 12 births (and already have 10 on the books for 2019!). There is truly nothing like witnessing a new life be born, and it has helped to heal so many of the raw and heartbreaking moments of this year. Each and every birth is so incredibly beautiful and unique and I’m so honoured to document the ones that I do.

For every sad moment, there have been so many happy ones and I’m really excited to farewell 2018 with some beautiful memories and photographs of my gorgeous clients. Wishing each and every one of you a safe and happy 2019!
